Tour Begins November 7 In Pompano, Florida

NEW YORK, Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Having seen his major label debut album, Room For Squares, certified RIAA platinum in July, Aware/Columbia Records artist John Mayer is returning to the road for a new series of concert dates beginning November 7 in Pompano, Florida, and winding up in Wallingford, Connecticut, where, after tickets sold out in 30 minutes, a second show was added for December 1 (see itinerary following). John's November shows are his first since his critically-acclaimed sold-out U.S. summer run.

Previous John Mayer tours have introduced audiences to up-and-coming new talent including Norah Jones and Charlie Hunter. In keeping with the indie spirit of his music, select shows on John's tour will feature support from "Sacred Steel" guitarist Robert Randolph & the Family Band with other gigs showcasing the "new grass" ensemble Nickel Creek.

Released on Aware/Columbia Records in September 2001, Room For Squares has been one of the biggest new artist success stories of the year. The album steadily worked its way up the charts, driven in part by fan word-of-mouth and the multi-format (Top 40 Mainstream, Top 40 Adult, Modern Adult, AAA, Hot AC) success of the singles "No Such Thing" and, most recently, "Your Body Is A Wonderland," which is a Hot Shot Debut (at #63) on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Room For Squares has SoundScanned more than 1,400,000 copies in the U.S. alone and has spent more than 40 weeks in the Top 200. Inside Wants Out, John's 1999 independent release, was recently released on Columbia Records and debuted at #22 on the Billboard 200 best-selling album chart.

John has enjoyed great critical acclaim for both his live performances and Room For Squares, which earned a "four star" review in Rolling Stone. He's been singled out as one of Rolling Stone's "10 Artists To Watch/The Next Wave" and as a "Breakout Musician" in USA Today. Spin called John Mayer one of the magazine's "Bands To Watch," and in this year's Vanity Fair music issue, John is one of the "Next Big Things." John Mayer was interviewed by Sir Elton John, one of his biggest fans, in the April 2002 issue of Interview magazine.
