Columbia Records Leads The Pack With Most Grammy Nominations For Any Individual Label

Columbia Records is congratulating its artists for their impressive showing in this year's Grammy nominations. With 31 Grammy nominations in 25 categories, Columbia Records has generated the most nominations achieved by an individual label for recordings released during the Grammy Eligibility Year (October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2002).

Among Columbia-related nominations: the Dixie Chicks "Home" album generated seven nominations including Album Of The Year and Best Country Album; Bruce Springsteen received five nominations including Album Of The Year and Song Of The Year; John Mayer received two nominations including Best New Artist; James Taylor received two nominations including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance; Tony Bennett received two nominations including Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Artists securing one nomination apiece included Barbra Streisand, David Bowie, Aerosmith, System Of A Down, Lauryn Hill, Ralph Stanley, Marc Anthony, Jorma Kaukonen, Ruben Blades, Angelique Kidjo, Robin Williams, and Nas.

The scope of Columbia's Grammy nominations covers an extraordinary range of musical genres including Pop, Rock, Rap, Country, Bluegrass, Salsa, Folk, and World Music. In addition, Columbia has garnered nominations for Best Score Soundtrack, Best Spoken Word Comedy, and Best Short Form Music Video.

Nominations for the 45th Annual Grammy Awards were announced today Tuesday, January 7. Winners will be announced at the 45th Annual Grammy Awards Ceremony to be telecast on CBS on Feb. 23 from 8-11 p.m. (ET/PT), marking the first Grammy Awards in New York City since 1998, and the first-ever Sunday broadcast of the awards show.
