Revolution Studios' "Maid in Manhattan," a Columbia Pictures release starring Jennifer Lopez, is the star's biggest boxoffice success in the U.S., with $94 million to date. It has also just become the biggest grossing international release headlining this superstar, according to Mark Zucker, Senior Executive Vice President of Columbia TriStar Film Distributors International.
"Maid in Manhattan" has grossed $45.1 million in 49 territories internationally, debuting at #1 in 33 of those markets. Lopez's previous top staring vehicle offshore was "The Cell," which grossed $42.6 million outside the U.S. and Canada.
For both the second and third weeks of March, "Maid in Manhattan" was the #1 title in the international marketplace, the first time a romantic comedy has occupied the top slot for two weeks running since "What Women Want" and "Miss Congeniality" in 2001.
"The acceptance and popularity of 'Maid in Manhattan' in the U.S. and in a wide variety of foreign territories has increased Jennifer Lopez's worldwide appeal," said Zucker.
"Maid in Manhattan" was the top debuting film in such territories as Australia, the United Kingdom, France, Mexico, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Switzerland, Austria as well as India, Egypt, the Philippines, Croatia, Lebanon, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, El Salvador Iceland, Bahrain, Thailand, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Kenya, Latvia, and Bolivia.
