To coincide with the recent release of ACID Pro 5 software and the Sony Sound Series Loops & Samples collection, Sony Media Software today launched the revamped ACIDplanet Web site (www.ACIDplanet.com), the Internet's premier destination for new music and unique artists. With an innovative look and feel, an increased focus on video, and the introduction of the paid-for "ProZone™" area with its enhanced user features, ACIDplanet.com continues to provide its community of over 200,000 individual digital musicians the most exciting place on the Web to create music, collaborate, listen, chat and publish their own music for the world to hear. To celebrate the launch, ACIDplanet.com is offering visitors the opportunity to download "10 Free Loops a Day for 30 Days".

The new ProZone area brings an additional level of interest and excitement to the ACIDplanet experience for professionals and power users by offering extensive photo galleries, discographies, extended bios and professional information as well as the capability to upload larger files. An annual membership of $49.95 also includes the choice of one loop library from the Sound Series Loops & Samples Classics Collection upon purchase at no additional cost.

The new site also supports the uploading of video, and offers a complete set of video charts along with new multimedia promotions such as: scoring contests, black and white short films and more. The first video contest to launch on the new ACIDplanet site is the "Extreme Motorcycle Action Footage Contest" in which users will be provided with the audio and video components to remix and produce.

"We created the ProZone area because we recognized that a good portion of our users are serious musicians and multimedia developers who need more powerful features to achieve their creative goals," said Dave Chaimson, Vice President of Marketing, Sony Media Software. "By increasing our video functionality, we are continuing to improve the site, giving our community the additional content depth they need to dramatically enhance their overall experience at ACIDplanet."

One of the most popular recurring events at the site are remix contests, which challenge users to create remixes using loops taken directly from the master tracks of well-known artists. The latest contest, which launched today, features cutting-edge hip-hop artists De La Soul, known for their colorful samples and clever lyrics. Users can pick and choose from a number of other remix challenges currently live on the site including The Hermit, The Next Kind of Blue and Cirrus.

The new site also features an expanded Tools section with helpful "How To" editorial-style copy regarding software and loops for creating your own music and videos.
