Friends and Family Connect Through Sony Style Holiday Windows

This holiday season, Sony Style retail stores will offer customers the chance to share a holiday wish with family and friends around the country via interactive store window displays.
Developed in conjunction with Syrup, a New York-based design firm, passers-by will have the opportunity to enter the store and create a holiday wish at a dedicated website (www.sonystyle.com/holidaywishes) available via kiosks in Sony Style stores.
Choosing from a selection of words and pictures, consumers will be able to craft a message reflecting their personal thoughts and feelings for the holiday season. The messages will be sent to a Sony Style store of the sender's choice and displayed on a variety of Sony plasma displays and televisions in the store windows for long-distance friends and relatives to enjoy.
An e-mail is then sent to recipients to alert them of the time and date their message will be displayed at a predetermined Sony Style store. To further the good cheer, holiday wish creators will receive a special discount coupon to be used on SonyStyle.com.
"The Holiday Wishes window displays demonstrate Sony's innovation and will encourage consumers to venture inside, test-drive our products and inspire them to create their own festive messages," said Christine Belich, executive creative director of Sony Style retail stores.
In addition to holiday messages, the windows will feature 3-dimensional whimsical stylized characters holding Sony portable entertainment products including a PlayStation 2® game console, LocationFree™ TV, Psyc® CD Boombox, S2 Sports™ armband radio, Network Walkman®, Cyber-shot® digital camera, Mini DV Handycam® camcorder, S2 sports™ ATRAC®CD Walkman® player and a MiniDisc Walkman® Player. Colorful modern graphics complete the design.
The concept was designed by Syrup, a global visual communications agency celebrated for its design approach and creative solutions. Syrup's New York creative group and the Sony Style creative team collaborated to develop and execute the Holiday Wishes project.
"Our inspiration for the project was to forge design and technology together to allow people the opportunity to connect with one another," said Robert Holzer, president and CEO of Syrup.
Sony Style Holiday Wishes will be on display in all 13 Sony Style stores across the country from Nov 9 through Jan 1.
