311's New Album Don't Tread On Me Debuts at #5 on Billboard's Album Chart; Single # 6* on Modern Rock Radio

311's 8th and latest studio album Don't Tread On Me debuts on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at #5 this week. The album consists of 11 new tracks produced by Ron Saint Germain and 311. The album is also the #1 on the Digital, Current Alternative, #1 Top Hard Music and Retailers Charts according to SoundScan.
At radio, the title track and first single "Don't Tread On Me" moves from #7 to #6* on both the Modern Rock and R&R Alternative Chart this week. The song has been at radio for only 5 weeks.
While in New York recently, 311 taped a performance at the Fuse studios for 7th Ave Drop. Both the performance as well as their newest music video (directed by Colourmovie) will be debuting on Fuse Monday, August 29th.
311 fans are a web savvy group, so an online promotion was staged in partnership with popular lifestyle portal, MySpace. A stream of the entire album was made available exclusively on 311's artist profile (www.myspace.com/311) one week prior to its release. Over the course of the week, Don't Tread On Me was streamed nearly 130,000 times by MySpace members. The band shot to #2 on the site's "Top Bands" chart and added over 30,000 new members to its community of "friends." Also, a majority of the Digital sales were generated by a promotion on the iTunes Music Store--offered two weeks before release date-whereby all pre-orders for the album received an additional three bonus tracks. The album held the #1 slot on the iTunes Album Chart through its release.
