Columbia Records and MTV have teamed up for a multi-faceted and unprecedented joint effort to launch Coheed and Cambria's third album, Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness, utilizing each of MTV's platforms -- MTV, MTV2 and mtvU -- along the way. Good Apollo ... will be in stores on Tuesday, September 20.

Good Apollo ... is the hotly anticipated follow-up to Coheed and Cambria's breakout album, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, which has sold more than 500,000 copies to-date.

The strikingly original band -- Claudio Sanchez (vocals, guitar), Michael Todd (bass, backing vocals), Travis Stever (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Josh Eppard (drums, backing vocals) -- continues to generate an ever-growing base of intensely loyal fans as well as across-the-board accolades by mainstream and underground press. The group's upcoming Good Apollo ... has been chosen as among "15 of this season's most hotly anticipated albums," by Spin magazine, who observed that "On Apollo ... , C&C capture the feel of the classic rock that raised them: Zep, Floyd, the Police, and Queen."

The seeds for the MTV-Columbia Records Coheed and Cambria cross-platform campaign were sown when mtvU checked in with the band in the studio earlier this year as the group was putting the finishing touches on Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes Of Madness. A favorite group amongst mtvU's internet-savvy audience, Coheed and Cambria took home two awards on the site's inaugural "mtvU Woodie Awards '04:" the "Soundtrack of My Life Woodie" (for Best Album if our lives were movies and needed a soundtrack) and the "Road Woodie" (for the Hardest Touring Band of the Year).

The time line for the MTV campaign, already underway, is as follows:

  Aug. 12

The "Welcome Home" video premiered across all of MTV's online entities: mtv.com, mtv2.com and mtvU.com.

Aug. 15

MTV2 and mtvU presented the first of six animated shorts chronicling the saga of Coheed and Cambria under the title "Never Been Done Before." A new episode will air each week leading up to the release of Good Apollo ... on Sept 20. Each animated short features a different new song from the album.

Aug. 16

"Welcome Home" premiered on mtvU, which hits 750 college campuses across the nation.

Sept. 13

Starting on this date and continuing to the day of the album's release, mtv.com, mtv2.com, mtvU .com will stream Good Apollo ... in its entirety as part of The Leak. In addition, promo spots for the album will run on MTV, MTV2 and MTVU, a first for all three platforms.
