As of today, fans are able to cast their votes for the winning poster by going to the film's website WelcomeToSilentHill.com. TriStar will unveil the winning poster on February 22, which will then be displayed in theaters across the country prior to the release of the film. The designer of the winning poster will receive $2500.

Fans and amateur artists were invited to design posters for the movie in the contest that began on December 5th, 2005. The competition drew an enormous response with over 185,000 fans casting their votes for the 2050 posters submitted online for consideration. For the first time ever, entrants were able to view their posters via mobile telephone and encourage friends via email and text blasts to participate from their own wireless devices.

The eerie and deserted ghost town of SILENT HILL draws a young mother desperate to find a cure for her only child's illness. Unable to accept the doctor's diagnosis that her daughter should be permanently institutionalized for psychiatric care, Rose (Radha Mitchell) flees with her child, heading for the abandoned town in search of answers -- and ignoring the protests of her husband (Sean Bean). It's soon clear this place is unlike anywhere she's ever been. It's smothered by fog, inhabited by a variety of strange beings and periodically overcome by a living Darkness that literally transforms everything it touches. As Rose searches for her little girl, she begins to learn the history of the strange town and realizes that her daughter is just a pawn in a larger game.

SILENT HILL is directed by Christophe Gans, written by Roger Avary and produced by Samuel Hadida and Don Carmody. Executive producers are Andrew Mason and Victor Hadida.

TriStar Pictures is a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment. In addition to SILENT HILL, upcoming releases for the label include RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, starring Annette Bening, Brian Cox, Joseph Fiennes, Evan Rachel Wood, Joseph Cross and Alec Baldwin.
