Switchfoot Hitting the Road for North American Tour in February - March

With an eagerly-awaited new album, Oh! Gravity., available now, the multi-platinum-selling San Diego-based rock band Switchfoot will hit the road for a series of North American concert dates beginning in February (see full itinerary following).

The upcoming Switchfoot tour marks the band's first U.S. concerts since an extensive American tour which ran from October 17 through November 22, 2006. Switchfoot's Columbia Records labelmates, Copeland, will open the shows.

In celebration of the new album and in anticipation of the upcoming tour, Switchfoot will appear on "Late Night with David Letterman" on Thursday, January 4 (check your local listings) to perform the title track from Oh! Gravity.

Released on December 26, Oh! Gravity. is the first new studio collection from Switchfoot since the group's Nothing Is Sound entered the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart at #3 in September 2005. (The group's major label debut, the double-platinum smash The Beautiful Letdown, peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200 in June 2004, more than a year after its release.)

Oh! Gravity. is produced by Tim Palmer (U2, Tears For Fears, Tin Machine, James) & Switchfoot. The album is executive produced by Grammy-winning Producer of the Year Steve Lillywhite, who also helmed the track, "Awakening," with additional production by Tim Palmer & Switchfoot.

Switchfoot has developed a harder rock edge for the sound and songs on Oh! Gravity., which was recorded at Big Fish Recording in Encinitas, California.

All songs on the album were written by frontman Jon Foreman and Switchfoot. This includes the first single "Oh! Gravity.," "American Dream," "Awakening," "Dirty Second Hands," "In This Life," "Amateur Lovers," "Circles," "Faust," "Yesterdays," "4:12," "Burn Out Bright," and "Let Your Love."

Switchfoot has already been receiving stellar reviews for Oh! Gravity. with Harp magazine calling it a " ... strong album of bitingly contemplative, rocking power pop ... ." And Performing Songwriter praising the band for " ... (stretching) out on Oh! Gravity., expanding its sonic palette from punchy modern rockers to songs with more nuance."

"Far more aggressive and harder edged than the band's previous work," raved Urban Tulsa Weekly. "This isn't Switchfoot on cruise control."

The Albuquerque Journal called the album, "By far the most energetic and aggressive Switchfoot record to-date" while observing, "Vocalist and songwriter Jon Foreman soars and delivers a grittier sound, while still digging deep inside his soul. The band accelerates and punches through tracks, then stops to deliver subtle twists -- including moments of Brit-pop, blues, 80's alternative and the occasional riff that echoes the Rolling Stones."

The Tennessean found the album " ... the band's finest and broadest work ... " while the Arizona Republic proclaimed Oh! Gravity. " ... their best work yet."

"A solid foundation of punk-pop gets appropriate garnishes of orchestral, R&B, country or electronic," wrote the Holland Sentinel, "pleasantly surprising the listener without big footing the point that these guys are smart musicians."

Switchfoot has been consistently drawing raves for the transcendent power of the group's live shows. "A rich catalogue of music," wrote Playback St. Louis. "A fine translation to live performance. Switchfoot is worth getting to know."
