Those who attend the Blender Theatre show this week in New York, will have the opportunity to be part of a special taping by Live Nation Studios for an upcoming broadcast (airdate TBA this Fall).

Surfing with the Alien was the album that ignited Joe Satriani's career as a solo performer. The acclaimed guitarist's second full-length release, Surfing with the Alien, was originally issued in October 1987 on Relativity Records. It was the first rock guitar instrumental album to reach Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart, selling over one million copies in the U.S. It includes the charting hits "Satch Boogie" and "Surfing With The Alien", plus the Grammy-nominated "Always With Me, Always With You."

Epic/Legacy Recordings recently released the 20th anniversary edition of this ground breaking album, Surfing with the Alien, in a newly expanded version. This meticulously restored two-disc set includes the newly re-mastered album and a previously never-before-seen live show filmed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1988. It also features new liner notes written by Joe and special deluxe packaging featuring photos, notes and other memorabilia from Joe's personal archive.

Over the course of his illustrious career, Satriani has achieved huge success, selling more than 10 million albums & DVDs worldwide with 12 solo albums (2 platinum, 4 gold) and 3 platinum DVDs, as well as garnering 14 Grammy nominations. Over the last two decades, Satriani has traveled the world, playing to sold-out crowds as both a headliner and as founder of the all-star "G3" guitar extravaganza.

Satriani says it best himself, "I've toured the world, but playing a club, on an intimate stage, is how it all began. I'm very excited to play these shows."
