Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) announced today the release of Syphon Filter®: Dark Mirror, available throughout North America for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. Developed by SCEA's Bend Studio, the team behind the highly acclaimed Syphon Filter® franchise, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror began as an award winning title for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) System, SCEA has demonstrated it's commitment to PlayStation 2 by bringing this great experience to PlayStation fans. Shipping just two weeks before the series' sixth installment, Syphon Filter®: Logan's Shadow, hits PSP systems across the nation, players can assume the role of Gabe Logan both at home and on the road this fall.

"Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is a story-driven, intense action adventure that we are very excited to share with PlayStation 2 owners. The control configurations for Dark Mirror are a natural fit for PlayStation 2. With the addition of the second analog stick, players have even more ability to control Gabe Logan," said John Garvin, Creative Director, Bend Studios. "We adjusted the textures and character models so they uphold the quality of a PlayStation 2 game on the consumer's televisions and are very happy with the results."

In Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, players take on the identity of Gabe Logan, a highly-trained Precision Strike Operative, commanding a black box military agency that legally doesn't exist and answers to no one. As Logan, players must take down Red Section, a deadly para-military group, attempting to steal Project Dark Mirror, a classified government project. In a deep and engaging storyline, the player learns secrets and mysteries about Gabe's past never before mentioned in the Syphon Filter series. Logan uses all his skill and weapons, including the ability to take down multiple targets simultaneously using any tactic in his arsenal. Vision enhancements allow players to track enemy movements, both visual and invisible, in complete stealth before deciding how to takedown and eliminate enemies with target lock or precision aiming.

Featuring high tech gadgets, weaponry, and snap-to-wall mechanics, players have the opportunity to maintain stealth when they choose, while lining up shots before risking exposure to enemy fire. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror's realistic look is attributed to a multitude of technologies, including "rag-doll physics" where Gabe and enemies react realistically to blast damage and other types of attacks, highly detailed texture and dirt maps and improved goggle effects. With textures and character models smoothed and remodeled specifically for PlayStation 2 and utilizing full progressive scan, the detail, realism and feature animations Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror maintains the visual standards of a PlayStation 2 game.

The independent Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror "T" for "Teen." For more information about the ESRB visit http://www.esrb.org/.
