Consumer Electronics Show (CES) -- Illustrating the meaning of true personal media convergence in a way no other company can, Gracenote® today announced it will demonstrate MediaLink, a sophisticated capability built upon Gracenote's powerful platform of digital media management solutions that enables consumers to have a completely unified media experience across multiple devices. Being demonstrated for the first time at the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show, MediaLink allows users to access and control their entire media collection from any device, plus simplify and unify the experience between their desktop PC, living room TV, mobile phone and car.
A pioneer in the digital media industry, Gracenote builds global media management, enrichment and discovery solutions that have been successfully deployed by leaders in the consumer electronics, mobile, PC and automotive industries around the world for more than a decade. The demonstration of MediaLink at CES 2010 shows the unique cross-platform capabilities of Gracenote's products and services, which are able to seamlessly unify the user experience on multiple devices. Through Gracenote's platform and standard communication and transfer protocol, device manufacturers and service providers can have a customized, simple-to-use global solution that can be deployed on consumers' PCs, TVs, mobile phones, and autos.
At CES Gracenote will be demonstrating the following capabilities of MediaLink:
-- Smart Search -- Want to know more about what you're watching? -- MediaLink delivers rich related content on the current program being watched your mobile phone. You can identify actors in the scene, directors of the movie, songs in the soundtrack, plus many other facts and information. -- Smart Control -- Want to find a specific actor, song or chapter? -- MediaLink allows for command and control of on screen programming. Click the actor, song or chapter on your mobile phone and go instantly to where they appear in the movie or TV show without having to scan the scene. -- Want to see all of the programs and movies you can watch on any device? -- MediaLink provides a unified user interface on every device where the user can view all of their personal media library combined with upcoming TV broadcasts, PPV and VOD programs. Big UCLA basketball fan? You can search "Bruins" on your mobile phone or TV and instantly see the "UCLA Basketball - Team of Destiny" DVD in your collection, upcoming games that will be aired on TV and the John Wooden documentary available on VOD. -- Smart Synchronization -- Want all of your devices to talk to each other and know what you're watching or listening to? -- MediaLink provides a media synchronization capability that allows users to start playing a movie on their living room TV, and then have it transferred to their PC when they go upstairs. Or, start a playlist on their PC and have it pick up right where they left off on their mobile phone when they head to the gym.
MediaLink makes entertainment better through unifying the user experience and providing deep and rich information, plus never-before available capabilities for search and discovery. "Ultimately, what consumers want is the ability to have all their devices work together seamlessly to provide a rich immersive experience," said Stephen White, VP of product and content management, Gracenote. "Gracenote has a unique ability to not only provide an enhanced media experience but can enable it across all media platforms and multiple devices. This is the direction in which commerce, content and technology companies should be headed and Gracenote is at the forefront."
