SAN DIEGO, Aug. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics today announced a Student Ambassador program with 100 students who have been selected to represent the Sony brand on college campuses around the country starting this fall.

The students have received some of the latest Sony products including the VAIO S Series laptop computer, the Cyber-shot DSC-TX10 digital camera and the Bloggie camera, along with the necessary training and tools to promote the products in peer-to peer activities.

"Sony Electronics is excited to launch a Student Ambassador program and actively engage with college students around the country," said Dan Stevenson, senior vice president of Sony Electronics' online retail business. "Our Student Ambassadors are not only equipped with some of the most exciting Sony products available but they also have firsthand experience working with Sony experts and have learned how to unleash their own creativity in ways that only Sony can. They are now empowered to begin connecting with their peers on their respective campuses to ignite the passion they have for Sony in others," he added.

The new Sony student ambassadors will serve as Sony Electronics representatives for one academic year. Sony Electronics is rolling out the program with support from Volt Workforce Solutions, the staffing business unit of Volt Information Sciences, Inc.

"Volt is extremely excited to be helping with the Sony Student Ambassador project," said Jerome Shaw, executive vice president and co-founder of Volt Workforce Solutions. "Sony student ambassadors earn a wage while gaining valuable experience to promote the latest Sony products in universities throughout the U.S."
