CULVER CITY, Calif., April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- getTV, Sony Pictures Television Networks' classic film digital broadcast TV network, is paying tribute tonight to one of Hollywood's most beloved actors, Mickey Rooney, with a special programming triple-play starting at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT. This special programming block also repeats Saturday, April 12 at 6:10 A.M. ET/3:10 A.M. PT. Rooney passed away yesterday at the age of 93.

getTV is a free-to-air broadcast television digital network dedicated to showcasing Hollywood's legendary movies through 1960.

One of the most prolific actors in the movie industry with more than 300 films to his credit, Rooney's work spanned from acting in silent films to more recent blockbusters like 2011's THE MUPPETS. Rooney won two Oscars® during his acting tenure, one early in his career in 1939 and the latter, in 1982, when he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 50 years of memorable film performances.

To pay tribute to his long legacy, the network is airing three of his films tonight opening with ALL ASHORE (1953) at 8 P.M. ET/5 P.M. PT. The tribute also includes DRIVE A CROOKED ROAD (1954) at 9:50 P.M. ET/6:50 P.M. PT and REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT (1962) at 11:50 P.M. ET/8:50 PM PT. All three movies were previously scheduled, however, with Rooney's passing, the network is re-theming these films as a remembrance of his esteemed work. All three films will also repeat at various times during the month as noted below.

9:50 p.m.DRIVE A CROOKED ROAD (1954) – [Crime, Drama, Film Noir] – A beautiful seductress dupes an aspiring racecar driver into serving as the wheelman for her boyfriend's bank heist. Starring Mickey Rooney, Dianne Foster, Kevin McCarthy, Jack Kelly and Harry Landers. This movie re-airs on 4/11 at 2:45 p.m.; 4/12 at 8:10 a.m.; 4/17 at 3:20 a.m.; and 4/22 at 6:45 a.m.

11:50 p.m.REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT (1962) – [Drama] –The story of a prize fighter who eventually falls into the world of professional wrestling. Starring Anthony Quinn, Jackie Gleason, Mickey Rooney, Julie Harris and Stanley Adams. This movie repeats on 4/12 at 6:10 a.m.; 4/17 at 1:20 a.m.; 4/20 at 2 p.m.; and 4/22 at 8:45 a.m.
