Seinfeld Train Takeover To Hit The Tracks May 12

NEW YORK, May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning May 12, New York City straphangers who board the Number 7 train will step into an immersive scene from Seinfeld's favorite diner when Sony Pictures Television, in conjunction with media partner CBS Outdoor, implements the first-ever total train takeover in the MTA's history.  All 11 cars of an entire train on the Number 7 subway line will be fully wrapped on both interior and exterior, transforming it into Seinfeld's Monk's Cafe, complete with Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer in their preferred hangout.

Seinfeld Train Takeover To Hit The Tracks May 12

In April, Seinfeld returned to an 11:00 PM berth on PIX11 by popular demand after having been moved to a midnight slot last fall.  PIX11, Tribune Broadcasting's flagship NY station, has been home to Seinfeld for a total of 10 years thus far. Sony Pictures Television just renewed Seinfeld for an unprecedented fifth cycle.

"For an entire a month, a New York City subway will become the 'Seinfeld 11 Train' in honor of our ongoing commitment to this hilarious show and WPIX," said Sheraton Kalouria, Chief Marketing Officer for Sony Pictures Television.  "Now, any time New Yorkers want to know where to find 'Seinfeld', they just have to think 11 on 11."

The promotion coincides with the first Mets-Yankees Subway Series of the 2014 baseball season, set for the Seinfeld Subway's inaugural week of May 12.  Fans heading out to Citi Field on the 7 train will be able to enjoy the Monk's Cafe Seinfeld experience as they prepare for the Subway Series and the ultimate New York night at the ballpark, or of course, they can watch on PIX11, which is the broadcast home of the Mets.

"Nothing is more New York than Seinfeld, the subway, the Mets-Yankees rivalry and PIX11," said Rich Graziano, President and General Manager, PIX11.  "Combining all of these is the perfect way to create an iconic New York experience for fans and viewers."
