BT & Sony Media Cloud Services Collaborate To Offer Best In Class Media Network & Production Products To Broadcasters

09/10/2014

LONDON, Sept. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BT and Sony Media Cloud Services today announced that BT's Media IP Nexus network will offer Sony Media Cloud Services' CiSM products, providing broadcasters and producers the ability to streamline workflows and collaborate on large media files quickly and effectively from anywhere in the world.

Developed by BT Media and Broadcast - the specialist digital media services arm of BT - the Nexus network has been specifically engineered to offer secure, resilient and high-speed connectivity. It allows media communities to share large files and resources quickly and effectively, as well as offering seamless access to internet and the next generation of cloud-based professional media applications. The network will enable producers and broadcasters using Ci's digital workspace, collaboration WorkSessionSM applications, and MediaBoxesSM to collaborate more quickly and effectively across virtual teams.

Designed especially for the media community and professional format requirements, the combined offering streamlines production workflows by using Ci's cloud-based production suite to collect, exchange, review, and share media files in conjunction with BT's Media IP Nexus network which removes the need for expensive hard-copy deliveries and unreliable internet file transfers.

"Network connectivity and collaborating on huge media files can grind production workflows to a halt. BT's global network footprint and Ci's production tools help address those production bottlenecks," said Michael Potts, Senior Director of Services and Sales, Sony Media Cloud Services, "Working together with BT, we're able to make media collaboration quicker and easier for both Ci and Nexus customers alike."

Mark Wilson-Dunn, Vice President, BT Media and Broadcast said: "We are very excited about the opportunity to work with Sony Media Cloud Services. The Nexus network and Ci complement each other extremely well, and we look forward to being able to offer Sony Media Cloud Services' Ci users a secure and streamlined service."

Sony Media Cloud Services' Ci will be available with BT Media IP Nexus by the end of 2014.
