SAN DIEGO, June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics announced today its ranking as the top home theater projector manufacturer in North America, as determined by the PMA Research 2016 Consumer Projector Dealer Survey. The survey was conducted by PMA Research, a worldwide industry analyst firm that specializes in market data for the display industry.

Sony Electronics Home Theater Projectors

"As the only maker of home theater projectors with native 4K resolution, we're proud to have achieved the top manufacturer ranking by PMA Research," said Sunil Nayyar, Director of Product Marketing, TV and Projectors, North America. "We're taking 4K HDR to the next level with our imaging technology for our state-of-the-art home theater projectors, ensuring our consumers have the best viewing experience. We're bringing 4K HDR content to life, from the lens to the living room."

To support those who bring these state-of-the-art projectors into the homes of customers, Sony has a variety of programs in place for its custom installation channel including co-op ads, demo equipment programs and profit-to-dealer programs. Additionally, Sony offers various installer-friendly settings enabling projectors to be easily adjusted based on the type of content being viewed. HDR video content delivers exceptional detail, color and contrast, with a far wider range of luminescence than other video formats, which is why Sony's lineup of home theater projectors features three High Dynamic Range (HDR) models, among five full 4K resolution models and two full HD models. Projectors vary from 1,500 to 5,000 lumens brightness, ranging from $2,000 to $60,000 MSRP.

The PMA Research 2016 Consumer Projector Dealer Survey queried projector dealers, or resellers and retailers, across America for their opinions about various aspects of manufacturers. Among a variety of important topics, three key categories within a dealer's relationship with a manufacturer were considered as the basis for evaluation, including—pre-sale and marketing support, products, and after-sale support. Important attributes of the dealer-manufacturer relationship were also measured as part of the ranking, including product quality and reliability, on-time delivery of products and the overall availability of product offerings. Rankings were allocated to key manufacturers based on how well they scored in these essential attribute areas.

"The relationship between projector manufacturers and their dealers continues to be a major factor in the success of the manufacturers," says PMA Research Vice President Linda Norton. "Our survey provides direct feedback that points to the aspects of the manufacturer relationships that dealers view as most important, and measures how well manufacturers perform on those aspects. Dealers of home theater projectors rated Sony number one this year, giving them high marks in quality and reliability of products – the single most important aspect of the manufacturer-dealer relationship. PMA Research congratulates Sony on a job well-done!"

Sony Electronics has an unmatched portfolio of 4K technology products from shooting the scene to viewing the screen, so it's no surprise that they're also in the forefront of manufacturing projectors. Each projector is designed with the dealers in mind, with an assortment of features that enhance their availability to provide the best overall home entertainment experience. Rich and accurate color reproduction is ensured by Sony's proprietary TRILUMINOS™ technology engine design, while Motionflow picture technology delivers clear images for fast-paced cinematic action. Sony projectors leverage new industry standards for colorimetry, luminance and high dynamic range (HDR), and continue to innovate as technology for producing and displaying video content improves for a better viewing experience.
