FOREIGNER Signs Brand Representation Deal With Artist Legacy Group
Legendary Rockers to Celebrate 40th Anniversary with New Licensing Partnerships Surrounding the Group's Best-Selling Catalog
NEW YORK, Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Iconic rock group FOREIGNER has signed a brand representation deal with Artist Legacy Group ("ALG"), it was announced today by ALG CEO Ashley Austin.
Under the terms of the new arrangement, ALG will procure license extension opportunities and unique collaborations with brands and other entertainment partners to leverage FOREIGNER's name, logo and lyrics from their biggest hits, which include sixteen Top 30 singles and six consecutive Top 10 Billboard-charting albums. The timing of the deal proves especially fortuitous as the band works to commemorate the 40th anniversary of their self-titled debut album in 2017.
"We are looking forward to working with the professionals of Artist Legacy Group who I know are going to make a valuable contribution to the development of the FOREIGNER brand," said Mick Jones, lead guitarist and founder of FOREIGNER.
Ashley Austin continues, "ALG is privileged to work closely with FOREIGNER to develop and source innovative opportunities for their iconic brand. We will create fresh initiatives across a wide array of licensing and media categories on a global scale, and the 40th anniversary is an opportune time to establish groundbreaking collaborations with licensee partners."
"Sony made a very smart decision when they aligned themselves with Artist Legacy Group. I know they are going to be very effective for FOREIGNER as we go forward into our 40th anniversary year and beyond," said Phil Carson, Manager.
Formed in 1976 by British guitarist Mick Jones, FOREIGNER is one of the most successful rock and roll acts of all time. They've sold over 75 million records worldwide, with nine singles charting in the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 (including worldwide No. 1 smash "I Want to Know What Love Is"), and have earned nineteen gold and platinum awards from the Recording Industry Association of America.
FOREIGNER's extensive catalog includes "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Urgent" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You," rock radio staples that continue to reach new generations through features in films such as Footloose, Rock of Ages, Magic Mike, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and television shows including WKRP in Cincinnati, The Simpsons, The Office, Orange is the New Black and this summer's Netflix sensation, Stranger Things.
This awareness has translated to hundreds of millions of combined views on YouTube, as well as six gold and platinum awards from the RIAA for digital downloads in 2014. In 2016, weekly sales of the band's back catalog put them in the company of the biggest selling rock artists of all time.
