MTV To Premiere Videos Of New Singles By The Offspring & Foo Fighters In December Soundtrack Album In Stores Tuesday, December 18
NEW YORK, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia/Sony Music Soundtrax is releasing Orange County - The Soundtrack, the album of music from the eagerly-awaited Paramount Pictures/MTV Films Production. Orange County - The Soundtrack premieres exclusive new singles from the multi-platinum bands The Offspring ("Defy You") and Foo Fighters ("The One") in addition to blistering hits from Crazy Town ("Butterfly"), Social Distortion ("Story Of My Life" [Live]), Cake ("Shadow Stabbing"), Lit ("Everything's Cool"), Pete Yorn ("Lose You"), Brian Wilson ("Love And Mercy," "Lay Down Burden") and more. The initial run of Orange County -- The Soundtrack will include a limited edition bonus disc introducing four new songs by up-and-coming artists. Orange County -- The Soundtrack is in stores Tuesday, December 18.
Orange County - The Soundtrack adds The Offspring's "Defy You" to the band's incredible chain of best-selling hits which began with "Come Out and Play" and "Self-Esteem" in 1994, continued with "Gotta Get Away" in 1995, crescendoed with "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" from 1998's Americana, and, most recently, burned up the charts with "Original Prankster" and "Million Miles Away" from Conspiracy Of One (released November 2000). "Defy You" finds Orange County's own Offspring back in full force with the single getting pre-impact play on Rock and Alternative radio in major markets including Los Angeles, New York and Los Vegas. Since its release to radio, the track has achieved Greatest Gainer status on the Modern Rock, Mainstream Rock, and Active Rock formats. A video for the song, directed by David Meyers (No Doubt, Outkast, Missy Elliot), will debut on MTV the week of December 10.
MTV will air a special "Making Of The Video" segment for Foo Fighter's "The One" on December 12. "The One" reunites Foo Fighters with director Jessie Peretz, who shared the Best Short Form Music Video Grammy Award with the group in 2000 for his work on "Learn To Fly."
"Orange County," a Paramount Pictures/MTV Films Production, is a modern day teenage campus comedy starring Colin Hanks ("Roswell," "Whatever It Takes") as a highly intelligent high school senior whose dreams of going to Stanford University are derailed when his blundering guidance counselor, played by comedienne Lily Tomlin, accidentally mails the college the transcript of the worst student in his school. The film features Jack Black ("Shallow Hal," Tenacious D) as Hank's nasty older brother and Catherine O'Hara and John Lithgow as his parents. "Orange County" is directed by Jake Kasdan ("Freaks and Geeks," "Zero Effect"). The film opens nationwide on Friday, January 11.
