Welsh Techno-Punk Sextet Return For First Stateside Tour Since Release of Critically-Acclaimed The Fake Sound of Progress Tour Kicks Off March 19 in San Diego
NEW YORK, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Welsh sextet Lostprophets, currently making waves in the UK with their genre-bending melodically heavy music, are returning to the States for the group's first American tour since the release of the critically-acclaimed debut album The Fake Sound of Progress. MTV2 Presents Lostprophets opens March 20 at Cain's Bar & Grill in San Diego (see itinerary following). The tour features The Apex Theory on all dates with Lostprophets being joined by their Columbia Records labelmates Quarashi as support on select dates. Lostprophets last visited U.S. shores in November 2001 on an autumn tour with Hoobastank.
MTV2 is currently airing a video for "Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja," the U.S. debut single from The Fake Sound of Progress. Already picking up steam on American radio, the track is charting on both the Modern Rock Monitor (at #35) and Active Rock Monitor (at #39) charts.
Released in the U.S. on December 4, 2001, The Fake Sound of Progress is enjoying steadily increasing sales and provides the perfect introduction to the band Kerrang! awarded the trophy for Best New British Band last year. Lostprophets recently completed a hugely successful NME tour in the UK and won the NME's Best Metal Band title, triumphing over competition from Slipknot, System Of A Down, Andrew WK, and Linkin Park.
Taking their name from a Duran Duran bootleg, an early version of Lostprophets sent their first demo to the UK's Metal Hammer magazine, who gave it a "10" (out of 10). The British press soon fell all over themselves lavishing praise on the band. Kerrang! called them "loud, sweaty, fun and slightly hysterical," "both a slick and bruising proposition" and wrote "Lostprophets are on the edge of greatness." Terrorizer lauded them as "a shining example of a young British band" while the NME raved "Lostprophets are a band truly in the ascendancy." The fans soon followed, as the band's performances gave American acts such as Linkin Park, Deftones and Fear Factory a serious run for their money. Lostprophets took a less serious attitude toward themselves, calling the group's debut album The Fake Sound of Progress.
Now, with the MTV2 Presents Lostprophets Tour, American fans can discover for themselves the power of The Fake Sound of Progress.
