'Stick 'Em Up,' First Single From Debut Album Jinx, Is #1 Most Added at Alterative Radio
NEW YORK, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Quarashi, the radical hip-hop/punk quartet that's smashing the musical stereotypes of the group's native Iceland, embark on the band's first major American tour as part of the hotly-anticipated Van's Warped Tour '02, kicking at the Idaho Center in Boise on June 21 (full itinerary follows).
Picked as one of Spin's "Bands to Watch in 2002," Quarashi is currently enjoying the breakout success of "Stick 'Em Up," the first single to be released from the group's debut U.S. album Jinx. A #1 Most Added record at Alternative Radio, "Stick 'Em Up" can be seen and heard scorching the airwaves on MTV and MTV2.
Back in Reykjavik, Quarashi has ripped apart the fabric of Iceland pop music earning itself two gold albums: the band's debut and follow-up, Xeneizes. According to Billboard (April 13, 2002), Quarashi "is well poised for similar success here ... 'Stick 'Em Up,' a powerful stadium-sized anthem, finds guitars, drums, and turntable wizardry wickedly cavorting ...."
Request (May/June 2002) echoed the sentiments: " ... the band seems poised to accomplish a feat no other Icelandic group has achieved in the States: platinum success .... Blending hip-hop and punk ... Quarashi has loaded its U.S. debut, Jinx, with smart beats, high-energy rhymes, and an abundance of attitude. All in all, it's the perfect recipe for becoming this year's buzz band."
