The Los Angeles band Crazy Town is celebrating the new year with series of tour dates beginning on January 7 in Phoenix, Arizona (see tour itinerary following).
darkhorse, Crazy Town's eagerly-awaited successor to the band's RIAA platinum-plus selling debut, The Gift Of Game, was released on November 12.
"Drowning," the lead single from darkhorse, was #1 Most Added at Active Rock radio and #2 Most Added at Modern Rock. A mind-blowing video for the song has been lensed by Brendan and Emmett Malloy (who, as the Malloys, have directed breakthrough clips for Foo Fighters, blink-182, 311, the Used, and others). The "Drowning" video can be seen on MTV2.
darkhorse signals a bold new direction in the evolution of Crazy Town. Since the release of "Butterfly," the breakthrough hit that propelled Crazy Town to the #1 slot on Billboard's Hot 100 singles chart, the band has developed a revitalized, road-tightened, sonic palette that retains the key elements of its signature sound -- blast-furnace guitars and throbbing hip-hop inspired beats -- while revealing an ever-broadening range of sophisticated songcraft and high combustion rock energy.
darkhorse is co-produced by Crazy Town and Howard Benson (whose resume includes P.O.D., Motorhead, Cold, the Crystal Method, and others). Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo contributes some melodic guitar work to the track "Hurt You So Bad."
Since recording The Gift Of Game -- which sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and was certified gold or platinum in ten countries including the U.S. -- the band has added two new members, drummer Kyle Hollinger and guitarist Craig "Squirrel" Tyler, to the core lineup: Bret "Epic" Mazur (vocals), Seth Binzer (Shifty) (vocals), Anthony "Trouble" Valli (guitar), and Doug "Faydoe" Miller (bass).
