Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. Promotes Frank O'Malley to Vice President, Sales

Jack Tretton, executive vice president, Sony Computer Entertainment America, has promoted company veteran Frank O'Malley to the position of vice president, sales, as announced today. With more than 35 years of business experience and 24 in sales directly, O'Malley played a key role in developing and expanding the company's retail and distribution infrastructure and relationships, which have evolved considerably since the introduction of the PlayStation® game console in 1995. Formerly director of sales, O'Malley will now oversee all sales relations in North America for the PlayStation business, including the United States and Canada, and continue to report to Tretton. His new responsibilities will include sales, distribution, retail merchandising, channel marketing and management.

In his new role O'Malley and his strong team of 57 are committed to maintaining the company's leadership position.

"Frank was instrumental in leading the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 businesses to unprecedented success in the retail channel, and I am delighted to announce his promotion," said Jack Tretton, executive vice president, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "His long term management experience and exceptional knowledge of the videogame business will play an integral role in our future growth as an organization. Frank will continue to work closely with both our internal and external sales teams in an effort to accelerate category momentum and expand our industry leadership position."

In his new capacity, O'Malley joins the executive management team of Sony Computer Entertainment America, led by Kaz Hirai, president and chief operating officer, which is responsible for the day-to-day direction and management of the North American operation.

O'Malley joined the original PlayStation sales team in May 1995 and has held the position of director of sales for the past six years. Prior to joining Sony Computer Entertainment America, he held various management positions at Mindscape/Software Toolworks. In addition to his extensive background in the videogame category, he also spent several years in the toy industry.
