Built to move, the VAIO® PCG-Z1A notebook will give mobile business users the cachet of a designer suit and near constant connectivity, without being tied to a wall plug.
The new notebook PC houses Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology and provides the performance, battery life and wireless access to keep road warriors working for up to six hours between charges.
The Z1A notebook represents the flagship of Sony's ultra-portable PCs. With a 14.1-inch SXGA+ LCD and onboard CD-RW/DVD combo drive, the notebook provides a great platform for in-flight movie viewing. Long battery life ensures enough power to get through a full-length feature and the juice to get some work done as well. Integrated IEEE 802.11b connectivity allows for cordless communication in hundreds of wireless-enabled airports, hotels, train stations, coffee shops and other so-called wireless "hotspots."
Inspired by futuristic automotive designs, the chassis of the new notebook features distinctive side detailing, exhaust vents and a recessed, glowing power button. The silver matte finish, a departure from the familiar VAIO purple, accentuates the wave-like curve of the body. And the latchless lid design with cam technology gives the LCD enough rigidity to help withstand the brutalities of the road.
"This notebook triggers an instant emotional response," said Mark Hanson, vice president and general manager of VAIO PC marketing. "It's for the person who craves an exotic sports car. You can't drive your car into a boardroom but you can certainly bring this PC and get a similar reaction."
Make Your Connection
The Z1A notebook incorporates a multitude of connectivity options, including two high-speed USB 2.0 ports, a Memory Stick® media slot, and an i.LINK® (IEEE 1394) digital interface to facilitate transferring and sharing digital content among a universe of compatible products. The optional port replicator offers easy cable management for frequent fliers, three additional USB 2.0 ports and DVI-D support for connection to digital displays.
Sony's exclusive software suite comes standard on the notebook to help users take advantage of digital music, photographs and video. PictureGear Studio™, MovieShaker™ and SonicStage™ applications make the Z1A PC a portable multimedia powerhouse. VAIO Media™ software provides a simple gateway for accessing digital content over a home network. From almost anywhere in the house, users can enjoy the music and photos stored on a VAIO desktop server.
The VAIO Z1A notebook, will be available this month at retail for about $2,400. Other configurations will be available online at www.sonystyle.com/vaio and through authorized resellers.
