Pop culture's premiere musical satirist "Weird Al" Yankovic performed his new parody of the Backstreet Boys "I Want It That Way" called "eBay", this morning at eBay Live! In Orlando, Florida during eBay CEO Meg Whitman's keynote presentation. The performance kicked off a special two-week promotion and charity auction with the web giant in celebration of Weird Al's new CD release, "Poodle Hat" (Way Moby/Volcano).

As of this morning, visitors to the eBay website can now hear Al's song and participate in a charity auction to benefit The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Items up for bid include a personalized Weird Al Platinum Album, VIP tickets and backstage passes to over 20 select Weird Al concerts this summer on his "Poodle Hat Tour," and an all-expense paid trip to Paramount's Great America in Santa Clara, California where the auction winners will see Al and his band perform and will receive deluxe VIP treatment at the theme park for two days. To gain immediate access to the Weird Al promotion and charity auction site, fans can click on www.ebay.com/poodlehat or go through www.weirdal.com.
Following over 25 Gold and Platinum career awards, "Poodle Hat" is Weird Al's 11th studio release and his highest debuting album to date, having entered the Billboard charts at #17. Other tracks on the CD include parodies of mega-stars Avril Lavigne, Nelly, Billy Joel and Eminem (Al's parody of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" called "Couch Potato" generated considerable controversy when, for the first time in Al's career, he was unable to make one of his signature music videos after the rapper denied him permission).
The most exciting event eBay has to offer, eBay Live! Is a yearly event which gives eBay community members the opportunity to meet the people they trade with daily, meet eBay executive staff, visit the Solutions Center Exhibition Hall, enjoy parties and networking receptions, and attend eBay University classes.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is the leading worldwide non-profit organization dedicated to identifying, funding, and conducting pediatric HIV/AIDS research as well as promoting global education, awareness, and compassion about HIV/AIDS in children.
