"Wheel of Fortune," America's #1 rated syndicated television series, and American Express have signed a cross-marketing deal bringing together these two companies for the first time. The agreement will introduce Blue Cash from American Express to "Wheel of Fortune" viewers through a number of advertising and marketing enhancements embedded in the show's on-air and online channels. The marketing and promotional program is being executed by Sony Pictures Digital Networks, a division of Sony Pictures Digital.
Beginning December 8th and continuing through December 19th, Blue Cash from American Express, the Company's Card product that offers up-to-5% cash back*, will offer "Wheel of Fortune" viewers the chance to win $5,000.00 each night. Five winners will be chosen each night for ten nights, for a total of $250,000.00. Each night of the sweepstakes, viewers are directed to watch "Wheel of Fortune." For a chance to win, viewers must log onto www.wheeloffortune.com and enter the correct Bonus Puzzle Solution for that night. The deadline to enter each day's sweepstakes is 5 PM (EST) the following day, and viewers may enter once daily throughout the sweepstakes. The program will be supported with in-show promotions beginning November 24th to December 19th.
From December 15th through December 19th, viewers will see a blue set, custom designed for "Wheel of Fortune." It will feature a Blue Cash wedge on the Wheel, and other blue-themed prizes including blue cars, and blue-themed trips to the House of Blues Hotel in Chicago, and to Las Vegas to see the Blue Man Group.
"We're excited to be partnering with American Express to provide this richly rewarding experience for both our in-studio contestants and our millions of viewers," said "Wheel of Fortune" Executive Producer Harry Friedman. "It's a very meaningful way to remind our audience that it pays to watch Wheel of Fortune."
"American Express is focused on creating new and innovative consumer experiences that help bring Blue Cash to life," said Richard Quigley, senior vice president of Global Advertising and Brand Management at American Express. "By embedding advertising and marketing content into Wheel of Fortune's television and Web presence, we have a unique opportunity to break through the clutter of traditional marketing and tap into the viewership of one of the most important entertainment programs in the marketplace. We believe 'Wheel of Fortune' viewers will appreciate the value of Blue Cash, and we are pleased to connect them to our product in a distinctive way."
In addition, the partnership was also integrated into the "Wheel of Fortune" online game found exclusively at MSN Games ( www.zone.msn.com ) with promotion across the MSN® network of Internet services and Sony Entertainment sites. Hundreds of unique Wheel of Fortune-themed puzzles and clues and a recreation of the actual set offer online players a completely immersive game experience.
"'Wheel of Fortune' is the most successful game show in history," said Michael Arrieta, senior vice president, strategic alliances for Sony Pictures Digital Networks. "We are happy to work with American Express and MSN to further extend one of America's most popular game show brands into the digital arena and create a compelling and extensive Blue Cash program for the company."
