RV is Taking it to the Streets

In an age where TiVo allows viewers to fast forward through TV spots, and SPAM filters throw out email blasts before they even have legs, Columbia Pictures is taking the spirit and fun of its new family adventure comedy RV, starring Robin Williams, to America's doorstep.

For the next seven weeks, Columbia's Mobile Marketing Unit, the eye-catching green and white RV driven by Williams in the movie will tour the U.S. equipped with a plasma TV screen that will show the trailer and behind-the-scenes footage from RV to visitors who hop aboard. There will also be photo opportunities and premium gifts available.

The tour starts on March 9 in Culver City, CA, the home of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and end in New York City. The RV will stop at approximately 20 Camping World/Freedom Roads stores as well as various other stops throughout the country including at Showest in Las Vegas, Panama City Beach, the New York Auto Show, the Chicago Cubs opening game and The Final Four.

Traveling from Los Angeles, the tour will stop in Las Vegas (March 12-15), Phoenix (March 16-17), Tucson (March 18), Houston (March 23), Panama City (March 25-26), Indianapolis (April 1-3), Chicago (April 6-7), Detroit (April 11-12), Cleveland (April 13-15), Syracuse (April 19-20), New York (April 22-30).

In Columbia Pictures' family adventure-comedy RV, an overworked executive, Bob Munro (Robin Williams), persuades his wife and children to give up their Hawaiian vacation for some "family bonding" on a cross-country RV trip.

In addition to Williams, RV stars Jeff Daniels (Dumb and Dumber), Cheryl Hines ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and Kristin Chenoweth (The Pink Panther). The film is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black™), written by Geoff Rodkey (Daddy Day Care) and produced by Lucy Fisher and Douglas Wick (Stuart Little).

Columbia's partners in this national road trip are Camping World and Freedom Roads, who are sponsoring a Fantasy Family vacation sweepstakes. Entrants will submit a photo or photos of their family on vacation to CampingWorld.com, FreedomRoads.com, RV-Movie.Com, RVs.com and Webshots.com, or by submitting a written entry at Camping World stores, Freedom Road stores and at RV tour stops. The lucky winner gets two weeks in a luxury RV plus $500 for gas.
