The career-spanning collection, comprising four CDs (totaling 53 tracks, 26 of them previously unreleased on CD) and one DVD (with 23 clips, 21 of them previously unreleased on DVD), arrived in stores July 25th on RCA/Legacy, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT. BRUCE HORNSBY: INTERSECTIONS 1985-2005 includes a full-color booklet, spiced up by Hornsby's provocative and witty track-by-track annotations.
INTERSECTIONS 1985-2005 spans Hornsby's career thus far, either with original album tracks or live performances of songs that originated on every one of his albums. These range from 1986's The Way It Is, all the way through 2004's Halcyon Days. The box includes a staggering array of guest artists including the Grateful Dead, Branford Marsalis, Ornette Coleman, Pat Metheny and Shawn Colvin. Also included are previously unreleased live versions of "The Way It Is," "Mandolin Rain," "The Valley Road," "Jacob's Ladder," "Look Out Any Window," "Lost Soul," the medley "Fields of Gray/ That's Where It's At," and "Dreamland."
The 23-track bonus DVD includes video clips of Hornsby and features collaborations with Branford Marsalis, Chaka Kahn, Roger Waters, Bonnie Raitt, the Grateful Dead and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
Admired by his peers for more than two decades by virtue of his skills as a pianist, singer-songwriter, band leader and collaborator, as well as for his long-standing commitments to civil rights in this country and human rights around the world, Bruce Hornsby has earned his reputation as a musician's musician. Underscoring that is his track record of more than 10 million albums sold worldwide, three Grammy Awards, and one of the most loyal fan bases in popular music.
