In an effort to help consumers decide on the perfect gift to give and to get this holiday season, Sony is offering hints in its holiday-themed gift giving windows at its 40 Sony Style stores including a more elaborate theme in its flagship store at 550 Madison Avenue.
Intricately constructed window vignettes feature this year's theme, "What to Give, What to Get, Hint: It's a Sony." Three iconic characters from the famous holiday Nutcracker story adorn the Sony storefronts this season including the ballerina, the nutcracker and the mouse king.
The six foot ballerina standing on point wears a skirt housing a selection of tempting holiday gifts to give or to receive. They include a PlayStation® Portable (PSP), Alpha DSLR-A700 camera, Cyber-shot® DSC-T10 and DSC-T2, Reader Digital Book, VAIO® VGN-TZ series notebook, VAIO® mice in various colors and a Sony Ericsson mobile phone.
Behind the ballerina, a chic, modern nutcracker figure is graphically represented in a glossy metallic banner which also includes vivid modern graphics depicting Sony products. All graphics were created by Danielle Siegelbaum, a French illustrator. Sony products are creatively integrated into the colorful graphics and include a BRAVIA® TV remote control as the body of a toy soldier, a mylo™ personal communicator as the head of a toy soldier, a VAIO® notebook PC as a messenger bag, Cyber-shots® as the heads of the toy soldiers, and a PSP purse.
At the base of the window is a three dimensional VAIO mouse king with added personality of a tail and face bring this holiday story to life.
Snowflakes made of molecules taken from Sony's HDNA advertising campaign are also graphically depicted in a whimsical way both in the windows as well as inside the Sony Style stores.
Another exterior window features five 26-inch BRAVIA televisions in eye popping colors including blue, red, green, silver and pink, stacked up like pastries on a cake stand.
The New York flagship store on Madison Avenue features a more elaborate version of the theme including a giant silver nutcracker complete with red neon and digital signage embedded in his chest; mice shopping online at sonystyle.com; enormous holiday gift boxes with HDNA ribbons penetrating the exterior of the window; and large LED pulsating HDNA snowflakes illuminate two of the windows.
Inside the stores three dimensional HDNA LED snowflakes are clustered together to form an HDNA mobile that serves as a focal point for shoppers.
A Sony Style custom holiday CD complements the HDNA snowflake graphic design and will be offered as a gift with purchase, while supplies last. The stores, which already feature an in-store fragrance with hints of mandarin and vanilla, feature a special holiday-scent at the store entrance and at the flagship, onto Madison Avenue.
