NEW YORK, Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the success of their self-titled debut album and their massive platinum selling single, "Breakeven" - which has sold close to 2 million downloads here in America and rewrote history on Billboard's Adult Pop Songs airplay radio chart to take the #1 spot where the song completed a record-setting 36 week rise to the summit - Epic recording artists and Irish rockers, The Script are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their sophomore album, Science & Faith on January 18th.
The album, which was released overseas on September 13th, immediately garnered interest from critics and debuted at #1 in Ireland and the UK. Written and produced by The Script frontman, Danny O'Donoghue and guitarist Mark Sheehan Science & Faith was recorded in both London and Dublin over the past year and is once again a testament to what The Script do best...pen emotion-packed songs that contain fluid melodies, haunting hooks and Danny's soulful vocals riding high over huge, anthemic choruses.
The poignant and stirring first single entitled, "For The First Time" - which impacts U.S. radio this week - is already resonating with people around the world. "People are being stripped of everything, stripped of their jobs and their homes and their furniture due to the downward spiral of the economy, so it's going to back to an old thing of drinking cheap bottles of wine, having dinner on the floor, nothing but candlelight, and it's like they are meeting each other for the first time," says frontman Danny O'Donoghue explaining the meaning behind "For The First Time." "It's getting back to reality; you are standing naked in front of this person. That notion really resonated with us and set the tone for what we want to talk about, emotionally."
The exciting news is amplified by the fact that The Script are currently back stateside enjoying their third headlining tour of America. The tour officially kicked off October 11th in San Diego, CA at the House of Blues, will cover over 19 markets across the country and wrap in Boston, MA at the House of Blues on November 7th. Tickets are currently on sale.
2009 proved to be an extremely successful year for The Script. With the U.S. release of their debut album, The Script took America by storm; performing on The Today Show, The View, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen Degeneres, and the Late Show with David Letterman to name a few. VH1 handpicked the band for their powerful "You Oughta Know" artist campaign and recently aired the band's "Unplugged" performance. Declared an "On The Verge" band by USA TODAY, Rolling Stone raved, "The Script...born to open for Paul McCartney," while Entertainment Weekly described The Script's music as, "smart piano-based pop that's well-crafted and romantic, recalling Coldplay, The Fray and, most impressively, The Police." Most recently the band performed on NBC's Today Show Summer Concert Series.
The Script is Danny O'Donoghue (vocals/keys), Mark Sheehan (guitar) and Glen Power (drums).
