NEW YORK, April 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- MASTERWORKS BROADWAY proudly announces the upcoming release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of WONDERLAND - Alice Through A Whole New Looking Glass. Produced by Frank Wildhorn, David Lai and Jason Howland, the recording will be available on May 3, 2011. With a book by Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy, lyrics by Jack Murphy, music by Frank Wildhorn, choreography by Marguerite Derricks and direction by Gregory Boyd, WONDERLAND is now in performances at Broadway's Marquis Theatre where it will open on April 17, 2011.

"The rich history of MASTERWORKS BROADWAY includes many memorable musicals - from The Sound of Music to The Secret Garden - that appeal to audiences of all ages, and we are delighted to add WONDERLAND to the list," said Alex Miller, Senior Vice President of SONY MASTERWORKS. "The songs in WONDERLAND are so melodic, catchy and upbeat. Frank Wildhorn imaginatively uses the widest possible palette of musical colors to bring the characters to life."

"One of the most fun things about writing WONDERLAND is that once we dug into this magical story, we found such freedom musically to go wherever we wanted," said creator Frank Wildhorn. "Jack and I have visited a little jazz, a little rock, a little boy-band, a little Latin... It's been a fun adventure so far - with great, passionate, talented singers and musicians."

In 1999, Wildhorn became the first American composer in twenty-two years to have three shows running simultaneously on Broadway: Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Civil War. On WONDERLAND, Wildhorn once again teams up with The Civil War lyricist Jack Murphy, with whom he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Original Musical Score.

A new spin on the classic story of Alice and her Looking-Glass world, WONDERLAND is about a modern-day woman who goes on a life-changing adventure far below the streets of New York City, where a colorful cast of strange but familiar characters help her rediscover what's really important.

WONDERLAND stars Janet Dacal (In The Heights) as Alice, Darren Ritchie (Little Shop of Horrors, Thoroughly Modern Millie) as Jack the White Knight, E. Clayton Cornelious (The Scottsboro Boys, A Chorus Line) as Caterpillar, Jose Llana (Spelling Bee, Flower Drum Song) as El Gato, Karen Mason (Hairspray, Mamma Mia!) as The Queen of Hearts, Kate Shindle (Legally Blonde, Cabaret, Jekyll and Hyde) as The Mad Hatter, Carly Rose Sonenclar (Les Miserables, Little House on the Prairie) as Chloe, Edward Staudenmayer (Spamalot, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me) as The White Rabbit and Danny Stiles (Regional productions of Guys and Dolls and Sister Act: The Musical) as Morris the March Hare.
