NEW YORK, April 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Oz talks to the stars of MTV's hit series "Teen Mom" as they open up about the show's success, their own struggles and the swirl of media attention surrounding them on a special episode of "The Dr. Oz Show" airing on Tuesday, May 3 (check local listings for time and channel). On the eve of the 10th Annual National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, cast members Maci, Leah and Kailyn (and their kids) visit Dr. Oz to talk about the "Teen Mom" phenomenon, tackle hard questions about their lives and futures, and take on some of their toughest critics. "Teen Mom" show creator Lauren Dolgen will also join the panel to explore the show's effects on the public discourse and perception about teen pregnancy.

In an exclusive interview, the teen moms give an update on their lives today, their babies' fathers and their hopes for the future. Then, Dr. Oz raises important questions about the impact of the hit series -- is it teaching prevention or glamorizing teenage pregnancy? Joining Dr. Oz and the "Teen Moms" for the discussion are special guests Melissa Henson, Director of Communications and Public Education, Parents Television Council and Amy Kramer from the National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Council.

Dr. Oz also talks with Maci's mom, Sharon, and Leah's mother, Dawn, to find out how parents can play a crucial role in helping their kids understand the consequences of sexual activity. Parents will get tips on how to have hard conversations with their kids about sex and birth control. As part of the discussion, Dr. Oz shares his own experience as a parent and reveals his emotional reaction to watching "Teen Mom" with his teenage daughter.
