NEW YORK, Oct. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- It's another landmark occasion for British songstress Cher Lloyd, whose first album, Sticks + Stones, debuted in the Top 10 on the US charts this week. In less than 8 months, the 19-year-old newcomer has landed a top 10 single ("Want U Back"), launched a second ("Oath" featuring Becky G., with a video that's garnered two million views in five days), and picked up a nation of Stateside fans who proudly call themselves 'brats.'
Cher's become a regular on American TV this year, turning in champion performances on the Today Show, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, America's Got Talent, Dancing With The Stars, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show, amongst others. This month, she'll return to perform "Oath" on Live with Kelly & Michael and guest as a celebrity judge on Disney's "Make Your Mark: Shake It Up Dance Off," airing Oct. 19. The former X Factor UK contestant will join the U.S. version of the show with a performance on The X Factor in November.
Sticks + Stones was released in the UK last year to enormous fanfare, debuting at #4 on the British charts. While the US version of the album differs, it's creating the same kind of uproar here -- according to Glamour, Cher's set up for "hitmaking notoriety."
Cher's s assault on America began earlier this year with the release of her debut single, "Want U Back," which hit #1 on the Hot 100 and sold more than 1.5 million copies. The video for the song logged nearly 28 million views, and Cher's 'brats' mobilized, turning out in force for her appearances all over the United States.
"Cher Lloyd has invaded our hearts," Perez Hilton wrote earlier this year, and now, with the Top 10 debut of Sticks + Stones, she's officially invaded our charts.
