Gracenote will debut its Video APIs at the TVOT Hackathon in San Francisco on June 22 and will offer a $2,000 prize for the most innovative hack built using them. Developers can get their hands on Gracenote's Video APIs early by registering for the Gracenote Developer Program at: https://developer.gracenote.com/.

"The music arm of entertainment has seen tremendous innovation from developers and has been embraced by major industry players, but TV has been left relatively untouched by the independent developer community," said Eric Allen, vice president of services at Gracenote. "Gracenote's vast source of TV and movie metadata and video recognition technology has the potential to rally developers around re-inventing the TV experience."

Gracenote recognition technology and data currently power the second screen experience for a number of leading TV companion apps, including Syfy Sync and zeebox. In addition, Gracenote TV listings and descriptive metadata powers millions of Smart TV and second screen guide experiences from major TV manufacturers. Now, developers have the opportunity to dive deep into this technology and data, and try to create the future of TV.

Gracenote Video APIs
Gracenote Entourage™ ACR: Uses the built-in microphone in tablets and smartphones to identify a TV show or movie by "listening" to a few seconds of the dialogue and soundtrack. Gracenote can then sync the second screen device with the program, and create an interactive experience.

Gracenote eyeQ™: Interactive Program Guide featuring local and national TV listings, as well as cast and crew photos, cover art and other related imagery. With up to 21 days of programming data, Gracenote eyeQ arms developers with a means to reinvent the guide and produce dynamic interfaces.
