Kevin James' Classic Everyman Family Comedy Will Continue to Entertain New Audiences Through 2017

CULVER CITY, Calif., Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on the success of its two previous cycles, Sony Pictures Television will begin selling a third cycle of the hit comedy series THE KING OF QUEENS, it was announced today by John Weiser, President of U.S. Distribution, Sony Pictures Television.

Now in its eleventh off-network season, the classic everyman family comedy has consistently delivered nearly 1.3 million viewers every day to date in the 2013-14, outperforming many newer off-network comedies.
THE KING OF QUEENS continues to be a strong performer for its top stations across the country, building +33% over its lead-in in New York, +50% over its lead-in in Philadelphia, +100% over its lead-in in San Francisco and +100% over its lead-in in Boston.
Proving its stability, the THE KING OF QUEENS also retains 89% of its total audience year-to-year, bettering many key comedies including Two and a Half Men (78%), How I Met Your Mother (83%), The Office (82%) and 30 Rock (79%).
THE KING OF QUEENS is set in the working-class suburb of Queens, New York. The show follows Doug Heffernan (Kevin James), an amiable deliveryman, and his wife, spitfire legal secretary Carrie Heffernan (Leah Remini), as they explore the everyday challenges of love, life, family, and marriage. Doug and Carrie also have to deal with Carrie's twice-widowed father, Arthur Spooner (Jerry Stiller), who lives in their basement. His constant presence and oddball behavior add to their daily adventures.
