CULVER CITY, Calif., Oct 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- getTV pays tribute to Oscar®-winning actress Judy Holliday with a special block, every Thursday in November at 7 p.m. ET. The career-spanning retrospective highlights six of Holliday's most iconic roles in a lineup featuring BORN YESTERDAY, which earned Holliday her first and only Academy Award®, and FULL OF LIFE (November 6); a night of romantic comedies with THE SOLID GOLD CADILLAC and IT SHOULD HAPPEN TO YOU, starring Jack Lemmon (November 13); then, spouses try to get back on track in THE MARRYING KIND, and Holliday and Lemmon reunite in PHFFFT! (November 20). The month comes to a close with a festive five-film "Thanksgiving Holliday" marathon, on November 27, at 8 a.m. ET.
The 'Friday Icons Block' puts the spotlight on four more cinematic legends, all month long at 7 p.m. ET. Best actor-winner Burt Lancaster goes to war in TEN TALL MEN, and makes a splash in THE SWIMMER (November 7); Richard Burton leads the charge in BITTER VICTORY, and romances Elizabeth Taylor in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW (November 14); Dyan Cannon is on both sides of the law in THE ANDERSON TAPES with Sean Connery, and SHAMUS with Burt Reynolds (November 21); and Evelyn Keyes stars in the epic adventure A THOUSAND AND ONE NIGHTS, THE THRILL OF BRAZIL, and THE MATING OF MILLIE, with Glenn Ford (November 28).
On Sundays at 7 p.m. ET, getTV presents a Silver Screen Favorites lineup featuring seven films from Hollywood's Golden. Ronald Colman finds heaven on earth in Frank Capra's Oscar®-winning 1937 fantasy LOST HORIZON, and Peter Finch, Liv Ullman, and Charles Boyer star in the 1973 remake LOST HORIZON (November 2); Barbra Streisand falls for James Caan in FUNNY LADY (November 9); Gary Busey steps into the shoes of the original guitar hero in THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY (November 16); beloved leading man Cary Grant shines in HOLIDAY, with Katherine Hepburn, and THE TALK OF THE TOWN, with Jean Arthur (November 23); and Gary Cooper becomes a millionaire overnight in the Capra classic MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN (November 30).
And spend an evening with Dean Martin as super-spy Matt Helm, in a two-pack of crime capers as part of the "Dino Double Shot" on Tuesday, November 25, at 7 p.m. ET. Martin moonlights as a fashion photographer to capture a crook who took down a government space saucer in THE AMBUSHERS. Then, Dino travels through Denmark with Sharon Tate, in her final film, hot on the trail of an evil count in 1968's THE WRECKING CREW.
