Sony Computer Entertainment Announces The "Playstation®4(PS4™) 20Th Anniversary Edition"

(SCEI) today announced the "PlayStation®4(PS4™) 20th Anniversary Edition," a special edition PS4 commemorating the 20th anniversary of the release of the original PlayStation (PS) on December 3, 1994.  The 20th Anniversary Edition will be limited to 12,300 units worldwide, a number that reflects the launch date of the original PS, and will be available for a price of 49,980Yen (excluding tax) in Japan, US$499 in North America, and €499 in Europe. The limited edition PS4 and included accessories come in "Original Gray" color, all packaged in a special commemorative box.

Special Features of the "PlayStation®4 20th Anniversary Edition"

  • An appearance reminiscent of the original PS

The PlayStation®4(PS4™) system, Wireless Controller (DUALSHOCK®4), PlayStation®Camera, vertical stand and the mono headset all come in "Original Gray," a limited color that replicates that of the original console.  The PS family mark labels are on the PS4 system, DUALSHOCK®4, and PlayStation®Camera and is a combination of colors which is similar to that of the original PS. 

  • Elaborately designed details

The PS4 itself as well as the surface of the DUALSHOCK®4 controller's touch pad are embossed with the "triangle-2-circle-X-square" pattern, a special arrangement of the "triangle-circle-X-square" logo mark with  "circle" resembling the number "0" to indicate the 20th anniversary.  Furthermore, every PS4 features a plate on the lower right-hand corner of the system's front-side, each inscribed with a different number from 1 through 12,300.  This unique number will remind the lucky owners that their PS4 is the only one of this edition in the world.

  • Special packaging

All items, including the vertical stand, are housed stylishly in a simple yet impressive presentation box. The box is then encased in a white sleeve that has the PlayStation 20th Anniversary Logo printed on the center of the surface.
