Sony Introduces Home Audio Products to Provide New Connected Listening Experiences
New wireless sound connectivity features create a more immersive audio experience
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- (CES, Booth #14200) – Today, Sony Electronics announced new products that support a more enhanced, connected, and immersive listening experience for the consumer. Building on Sony's wireless Multi-room experience, Sony is introducing new audio functionality that will provide the freedom to use various new audio products – sound bars, A/V receivers and wireless speakers and even a new Blu-ray Disc™ player model that can be used as a playback source – to create the best combination of devices to fit unique entertainment needs.
New advanced technologies for wireless audio playback go beyond wireless Multi-room, the ability to play music simultaneously on multiple connected devices, to the introduction of "Wireless Surround" and "Wireless Stereo," providing a more powerful audio and video and experience. Wireless Surround enables a real surround sound environment by combining a sound bar as front speakers together with two wireless speakers as the rear speakers, enabling an immersive TV watching experience. Wireless Stereo enables users to set two wireless speakers as left and right stereo speakers to maximum the stereo effect and provide high volumes with powerful sound.
"In a world that is increasingly becoming more connected, it was a natural progression for us to continue introducing products that work together wirelessly to create the optimal listening experience," said Mike Fasulo, President and COO of Sony Electronics. "With this new lineup of products, consumers – especially audio enthusiasts – will have even more freedom to create an immersive audio experience throughout their home."
The new HT-NT5 2.1ch Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer continues Sony's lineup of premium sound technology with High-Resolution Audio playback, built-in support of 4K content and High Dynamic Range content from major studios via HDMI HDCP 2.2, Spotify Connect, and Multi-room capability via the SongPal app. And with Google Cast™ Technology built-in, consumers can cast music apps such as Google Play Music or Pandora straight from their mobile device or laptop to their speakers. Uniquely designed with six powerful speakers that sit upright, the new HT-NT5 delivers an immersive surround sound experience with the exceptional clarity of hi-res listening.
Like the HT-NT5, the new HT-CT790 2.1 channel premium sound bar with wireless subwoofer also supports 4K and High Dynamic Range content from major studios via HDCP 2.2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Multi-room capability via the SongPal app. With multiple HDMI inputs, the HT-CT790 provides the best sound experience for multiple devices, aligning well with today's customers' digital entertainment.

Portable Wireless Speakers
Two new models join Sony's portable wireless speaker lineup, giving consumers more options for their dynamic sound listening experience, whenever and wherever they want. The new, four-speaker Sony SRS-ZR7 features Hi-Res audio playback combined with S-Master HX™ technology which reduces noise levels. The SRS-ZR7 gives consumers the freedom to easily listen to the music service of their choice with support for Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Multi-room capability via SongPal app.
As with the SRS-ZR7, the new SRS-ZR5 also features wireless listening with an HDMI® (ARC) connection in a slightly smaller form factor. This is a great feature to expand usage of these wireless speakers and enhance the sound quality of virtually any TV. In addition, it also simplifies connecting to the music service of a user's preference with support for Google Cast and Multi-room via the Sony SongPal and has full Bluetooth capability with LDAC and NFC support.
Both the SRS-ZR5 and SRS-ZR7 support a Wireless Stereo function and can be paired – with two of the same model or one of each – to create a wider stereo affect.
