04/01/2016
NEW YORK, April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Music Entertainment and Above Average, the premier online comedy destination and production company, today announced that they have entered into a deal to develop a new slate of original digital video programming together.
Under the first of its kind agreement, Sony Music will work with Above Average to develop new comedy-themed properties around its artists. The new development agreement further builds upon an existing relationship between Sony Music and Above Average. The two companies previously partnered on the development of "Thank You and Sorry," the Streamy Award-nominated original docu-series starring RCA Records recording artist Jack Antonoff.
"We're excited to be working with the incredible team at Above Average to create a new slate of programming with Sony Music artists," said Lee Stimmel, Head of Original Content for Sony Music. "Our work together on 'Thank You and Sorry' demonstrates the range of possibilities artists have to broaden their connection with their fans in fresh and unexpected ways."
"From our work on our webseries 'Sound Advice,' to our collaboration with Sony Music on 'Thank You And Sorry,' we've long wanted to expand the amount of content we develop involving musical artists. With this deal with Sony Music and their phenomenal roster of artists, we're excited to create the new leading intersection of music and comedy," said Jennifer Danielson, President of Above Average.
