Sony Music JV Artist Legacy Group Named Global Brand Representative For Iggy Pop

Brand Management Firm to Secure Licensing and Endorsement Opportunities for The Godfather of Punk

04/25/2017

NEW YORK, April 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Artist Legacy Group ("ALG") has joined forces with punk rock pioneer Iggy Pop for a new, global brand management initiative, it was announced today by ALG CEO Ashley Austin.

ALG will spearhead new license extension opportunities for Iggy Pop's name and likeness across multiple product categories and media platforms, building upon his incredible track record of working with brand partners.

After being presented with ALG's initial ideas and vision for the future of the Iggy Pop brand, Pop described the new relationship succinctly, saying, "Sounds like fun!"

"Iggy Pop is punk rock personified and a perfect fit for brands looking to add authentic edge to their product lines and advertising campaigns," says Austin. "He is an unstoppable creative force and it is a privilege to be working alongside him to identify innovative initiatives that cement his status as a global icon."

Widely acknowledged as one of the most dynamic stage performers of all time, Iggy Pop pre-figured both 70s punk and 90s grunge. Critical acclaim and a fanatic cult following have established The Stooges' three seminal LPs, The Stooges, Funhouse and Raw Power, as benchmarks for every generation. In 2010, Iggy and The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Pop's iconic solo albums include New Values, Zombie Birdhouse, Blah Blah Blah, Brick by Brick and American Caesar. His first two solo albums, The Idiot and Lust For Life, were co-written and produced by David Bowie – a collaboration widely regarded as one of music's most epic alliances. Pop's more recent releases, Skull Ring, Préliminaires, Après and Post Pop Depression, feature an array of artistic collaborations that further solidify his position as a true musical innovator.

Iggy Pop's music has been featured in an array of motion pictures, including Trainspotting, T2: Trainspotting, Gold and Kong: Skull Island, as well as in commercials for Royal Caribbean International, Guinness, Captain Morgan, Toyota, Chrysler, Audi and Volkswagen. Additionally, he has appeared in various film projects, including The Color of Money, Cry-Baby, Tank Girl, Blood Orange, Song to Song and Coffee and Cigarettes – a film by Jim Jarmusch, who recently directed Gimme Danger, a documentary about The Stooges. Pop has also appeared in television programs The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Venture Bros and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.
