EPA Honors Sony Electronics as Sustainability Gold Award Winner for Third Consecutive Year
Annual Electronics Recycling Win Highlights Sony's Leadership in Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management
SAN DIEGO, March 30, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Sony Electronics Inc. was honored with a distinguished Gold Tier Award by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in the annual Sustainable Materials Management (SMM) Electronics Challenge via a live virtual ceremony. This marks the third consecutive year Sony earned this distinction for its significant global recycling and sustainability initiatives and results. The award is given to leading electronics manufacturers, retailers and brand owners showing commitment to, and innovations in, sustainable materials management and responsible electronics recycling.

Since 2010, in the United States alone, Sony Electronics Inc. has recycled 293 million pounds of electronic products. Further, the company has set aggressive short-, medium- and long-term sustainability targets for itself and global business partners.
