Kevin Kelleher Named Chief Operating Officer of Sony Music Entertainment
NEW YORK – February 27, 2017 – Incoming Sony Music Entertainment CEO Rob Stringer, who will be responsible for all worldwide operations of Sony Music, today announces that Kevin Kelleher will be promoted from Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer to Chief Operating Officer of Sony Music Entertainment effective April 1, 2017, reporting directly to Stringer.
In his new role, Kelleher will have oversight responsibility for Stringer in all corporate areas and will work closely with him in overseeing the company's global operations, and helping drive initiatives.
Commenting on Kelleher’s appointment Stringer stated, “Kevin has a tremendous depth of experience in both the music business and the larger entertainment industry that will help us as we take Sony Music to the next level and achieve even greater success. Kelleher has over 20 years of experience as a leading strategic and operational executive at Sony, and in his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s worldwide financial and information technology operations and its business development/investment activities. He previously worked on the formation of Sony Music’s 2004 joint venture with BMG Music, and Sony’s subsequent 2008 acquisition of Bertelsmann’s 50% interest in Sony BMG. In 1995, he was involved in the original formation of the Sony/ATV Music Publishing joint venture with Michael Jackson. Kelleher joined Sony Music in 1992 as a Senior Financial Executive coming from PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was a partner in its Media/Entertainment practice.
