SONY PICTURES CLASSICS TO EXPAND ‘THE FATHER’ TO LOS ANGELES THEATERS THIS WEEKEND FOLLOWING SIX OSCAR NOMINATIONS

NEW YORK (March 15, 2021) – Sony Pictures Classics announced today that starting Friday, March 19th, they will expand Florian Zeller’s THE FATHER  to Los Angeles theaters. The film is currently playing on 865 screens across the country, including Manhattan. 

Currently showing in 5 theaters in Manhattan including AMC Lincoln Square, AMC Empire, AMC Kips Bay, Cinemas 1,2,3 and Angelika, THE FATHER will be playing in over 15 theaters in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles theaters include, with more to be added in the coming days: AMC Burbank, AMC Block, AMC Covina, AMC Tyler, AMC Rolling Hills, AMC Promenade, AMC Ontario Mills, AMC Fullerton, Cinemark Huntington Beach and Cinemark Pike Long Beach.

The expansion comes on the heels of the film’s 6 Academy Award® nominations which were announced earlier today: Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Anthony Hopkins, Best Supporting Actress for Olivia Colman, Best Adapted Screenplay for Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, Best Film Editing for Yorgos Lamprinos and Best Production Design for Peter Francis and Cathy Featherstone.

Written by Zeller and Christopher Hampton, THE FATHER stars Academy Award ® winners Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman, a father-daughter duo—one mischievous, the other caring—who battle the universal prophecy of loss that comes with age. The family drama also stars Mark Gatiss, Rufus Sewell, Imogen Poots and Olivia Williams.
