SONY PICTURES CLASSICS ANNOUNCES NEW APRIL 22nd RELEASE DATE FOR ROGER MICHELL’S ‘THE DUKE’

NEW YORK (February 15, 2022) – Sony Pictures Classics has announced an updated release date for THE DUKE. The film, directed by the late Roger Michell, will now be released in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on April 22, 2022 before expanding to additional cities over the following weeks. The dramedy received a one-week awards qualifying run in Los Angeles this past December.
THE DUKE stars Academy Award® winners Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, with a screenplay by Richard Bean and Clive Coleman. It was produced by Nicky Bentham and executive produced by Cameron McCracken and Jenny Borgars for Pathé, Andrea Scarso for Ingenious Media, Hugo Heppell for Screen Yorkshire, Peter Scarf, and Christopher Bunton.
Previously, the film played at the Venice and Telluride Film Festivals. It is one of the final projects for Michell, who sadly passed away in September.
